Concrete Walkways and Sidewalks in Willow Springs

Is your walk heaved by roots or sinking at the porch? We replace it with one that stays put.

What Happened to Your Old Walk?

Usually one of three things. Tree roots pushed a section up. The ground underneath washed out or settled, and a section dropped. Or the concrete was thin and poorly cured, and the surface started flaking apart after a few winters of salt. On wooded, sloping lots like many in Willow Springs, it is often all three. Fixing it for good means dealing with the cause. We break out the old walk and haul it away. Roots in the path get cut back. We dig to firm soil and build up a compacted stone base so the new walk has something solid to sit on. On a slope, we pay attention to where water comes from and where it goes, so runoff from uphill does not undermine the new walk. The forms get a slight side slope so rain runs off. We match the height of the porch, the drive and any sections staying in place so there are no lips. The surface gets a light broom finish for grip, and joints are cut at even spacing so any cracks stay straight. Last, the boards come out, dirt goes back along each side and we sweep.

What Your Walk Replacement Covers

All the work it takes to get a walk that stays flat.

  • Tear-out and haul-away

Old walk broken up and removed from your property.

  • Root work

Roots in the path cut back before the base goes in.

  • Compacted base

Firm soil and crushed stone so the walk stays level.

  • Runoff planning

Water from uphill directed around the walk, not under it.

  • Side slope

A slight tilt so rain sheds into the yard.

  • Flush transitions

New walk matched to porches, drives and existing sections.

  • Broom finish and joints

Grip for wet days and evenly spaced joints.

How Do We Replace a Walk?

  1. Describe it

How long, how wide and what went wrong? We will give you a ballpark on the call.

  2. Measure and schedule

A visit to check grade, roots and runoff, then a written price and a start date.

  3. Tear out, rebuild, pour

Old walk out, base built, new concrete poured and finished. Forms off and edges cleaned up after it cures.

Why Our Walks Stay Flat
